First Workshop of the LocAll4Flood project in Palma

In the framework of the LocAll4Flood project, a series of workshops with stakeholders is planned in each pilot site. Last Thursday, March 27th took place in Palma, Balearic Islands the first session regarding adaptation to local conditions and early warning systems in the fluvial courses Torrent Gros and Torrent de na Bàrbara. The workshop was held by our project partner UIB (University of Balearic Island), who presented the introduction to the LocAll4Flood project and to the European Flood directive.
HYDS, as a technological partner of the project, carried out the implementation of an Early Warning System in each pilot site. In this workshop, we presented the Argos platform and the application on the local case with Argos City for Palma. Afterwards, the Mixité cooperative facilitated two participatory activities where those present debated flood risk management and the implementation of warning systems in the local environment.
Next workshop in Palma is planned for the 4th of June and will be focused on  flood risk awareness.

Kick-off meeting of LocAll4Flood

On April 8-9 took place  the Kick-off meeting of the LocAll4Floods project in the catalan city of Vic.

LocAll4Flood project proposes an Integrated Multi-stakeholder Governance Model, combining prevention, adaptation and mitigation actions, which will be tested in small catchments particularly vulnerable to flash floods. In order to have a wide range of sensitive zones, 9 pilot sites have been selected from Greece, Italy, Bulgaria, Malta, Catalonia and the Balearic Islands, covering 4 kinds of topographical areas (urban, rural, coastal, industrial). The “bottom-up” approach is privileged and the transferability to the whole Mediterranean basin is foreseen. With a total budget of 2 343 206.89 €, the project will last 33 months. hyds will work on the implementation and test of Flood Early Warning Systems based on Argos in the 9 pilot sites. This project is possible thanks to the support of Interreg Fund.

It was a real pleasure to meet with all partners in Vic and start working in this promising project.

hyds at the 3rd CREXDATA meeting

hyds took part in the 3rd CREXDATA project meeting in Dortmund, Germany last week. Advances were noted in the three Use Cases: meteorological emergencies, health crises and maritime traffic, as well as in the different project technologies: Machine Learning, Event Forecast, Augmented Reality, Artificial Intelligence Explainability… hyds is working on an ARGOS-City for Dortmund expanded with CREXDATA technologies.

The project partners were able to see how they work in the Dortmund Fire Department (FDDO), host of the meeting, and we also visited the facilities of the DRZ (Dortmund Robotics Center), their collaborator and also a member of CREXDATA. The incorporation of robots into emergency situations is made a reality by day-to-day work such as that done in Dortmund.
