Argos services as a result of investment in R & D & I through the ANYWHERE project

The origin of the services of the Argos family is the participation in the ANYWHERE project of the European program H2020. The project ANYWHERE (Enhanceing emergency management and response to extreme weather and climate events), funded by the European Commission with more than 11 million euros, was carried out between 2016 and 2019 by 31 partners from 11 different countries.

Partners included universities, research centers, technology companies and civil protection departments from different European administrations. They all worked to design, develop and test tools to support decision-making in weather-related emergencies. hyds participated in all parts of the project and led the working group for the technological integration of different impact models in a common Pan-European platform of which implementations were made for the CECAT (Center for Operational Coordination of Catalonia) and for the CENEM (National Center for Monitoring and Coordination of Emergencies).

In addition to the platform for national or regional civil protection, also in the framework of the project ANYWHERE hyds developed:

  • A prototype for cities: A4Cities, which was tested in Blanes (Catalonia) and Mafra and Setúbal (Portuguese municipalities near Lisbon).
  • A prototype for campsites located in flooded areas: A4Campsite, which was tested in several campsites in the Tordera delta.

In all cases the trial period was over 1 year with very satisfactory results.

From these prototypes in the framework of the ANYWHERE project, hyds has developed the Argos family of services, consolidated operational tools.
